Book Inspiration

-Friday Night Lights Televison series is a spin off from the novel written by Buzz Binger. The story he wrote was a true story about a small town in Texas of a high school football team in 1988. He wanted to write a novel about how high school football is a generic American stereotype, and what better way to do so then embracing the whole experience by writing a true story.

-Buzz Binger did not have any Christianity influences in his book to believe that the show could be turned into a Evangelic Christian series.

Creator of the show

- Peter Berg is the creator of "Friday Night Lights", but he himself is also an actor, film director, producer and writer. The television series does not have any correlation to his life in terms of religious views because he was raised in a Jewish home. Either way the story unfolds in a small town of Texas, Dillon, which is strong in Christianity and football driven.

- The show was brought to Berg's attention because Binger is his "second cousin"(October 29 2015,Wikipedia) and thought the novel would make for an excellent starting point for a televison series.
